Trash Talk Fools Few
Though not deserving of a separate page, I decided to post this anyway. I remembered it while responding to some mail I received about the Thread Spread section of my web site. I didn't have the requested pictures to go along with the Algodones or Pismo articles, but I did have this quirky offbeat stray tune to offer up.

It is a response I received to the little Tree Huggers & MTBE piece I posted some time ago. Actually it's the only response I ever received about that bit. Apparently it struck a chord in this man/child. I had to edited out some of the language. It seems the smut mouth would-be enviro-chemist didn't consider another type of clean which comes about by not introducing verbal diarhea.

When young children display this kind of behavior adults call it a tantrum. It's usually followed by banging on the floor and some bawling. When this type of behavior is spewed forth from a self proclaimed educated adult, the rest of us call it humor.

Funny thing - It's been over a year but I can finally buy gasoline without the cancer causing, fish killing, water polluting MTBE in it. Along with that the lake everyone was so worried about (around here) has been reopened to vessels running the new and improved "smooth" fuel. For every frog there's someone with a tongue...

Rick - Why is it that the only hate mail I receive is from a hotmail, yahoo or geocities domain ?!?

The only reason I am responding to you is I have been called Tree Hugger so many times, I was curious what it meant. My internet search led me to your ravings. You have given this a lot of thought, no doubt. You seem to have a vision or a mental picture of a typical Tree Hugger that is rather discomforting to me. You have missed the point entirely of what I believe a Tree Hugger stands for, of course. Maybe person who loves and respects the natural world should find ways to keep from harming it. What is fun in your eyes though harmful to others should be pondered closely. Logic dictates that a harmful act should be stopped immediately. Most of us have that natural impulse to draw away from a flame as our skinned is burned. Knowing that while driving a SUV, for instance, you are burning more fuel, thus producing more emissions than a GEO, yet you insist on a SUV purchase probably means that you don't give a $4it about the whole petroleum process. It must be more important to you that you look good rather than the rational of less impact on air quality. Why would you care, then, that when you are flying along in your jet ski, your negative impact to the environment is far greater than the thrill obtained from projecting your fat a$$ across the top of a freshwater ecosystem you know nothing about? If someone attempts to use intelligent thought to solve a problem, and in the end fails to come to the correct conclusion or finds that they are a hypocrite for not realizing sooner that that the process of change is infinite, they are still far more enlighten than those who build forums of thought to support ideals that are clearly wrong, outdated or derogatory. Simply put, moron. Give your issues more thought. Don't categorize the very people around that may offer you options for change for this f-word up world we are all trying to call home. I am not sure what you are doing for the cause. Apparently nothing. If you would like to know more about the natural world. I may be able to help. But please bring curiosity not judgment.

I apologies for not having an email address at this time. Please check back in a few days. I will probably be found under a hotmail address using the name holycrossg.com or something very similar. Please feel free to rant my direction.
